Wedding Reception Location: Looking Between – The Virgin Hotel, The Ritz-Carlton

Setting the Scene

Lexy and Michael have been engaged since Michael popped the question at Thanksgiving in 2019, but they met and have been dating since they both attended SMU here in Dallas. They both live in NYC on the Upper East Side, where they moved in 2015, but were drawn back to Dallas from their time spent here in University, the accessibility of the city from a wedding standpoint, and the fact that it will be a destination for all of their guests.

They are looking to plan a wedding on May 22, 2021, and are looking at a variety of venues, but most importantly they want something that is not typical to other weddings they have attended. They will have around 175 guests from all over the country and would like to hold the ceremony in a location that is a little more traditional (Upper East Side) and the reception with a more Downtown (West Village, SOHO, Tribeca) vibe, typical of where they spend most of their free time in NY. Lexy and Michael are also interested in a party that allows for a seated dinner for everyone allowing for a bit of formality and for everyone to be able to enjoy all of the same activities at the same time.

While they both lean toward a style that is more traditional (ceremony) with a modern twist (reception), Lexy and Michael, believe in an understated less is more type of atmosphere that truly reflects them as a couple. They are both into food as well so the meal is a very important aspect of the evening, especially for Michael, while Lexy’s focus will be on the decor and making sure that their eventual reception space feels full yet appropriate to make their event truly intimate.

Planning from a distance, Lexy and Michael are interested in a planning package that includes both vendor and logistics support and overall concept and design. They will have a wedding with a large number of their friends in attendance and are looking for it to be fun and not too stuffy. Lexy and Michael are interested in making their wedding as unique as possible for their guests who have potentially seen it all!

“No matter how many times someone says, “live in the moment” and “enjoy every moment” I think that might be impossible. The celebration flies by and is so incredibly magical but with Julian the planning is just as rewarding and fun as the celebration.”
