As the wedding drew closer, however, it was clear that the pandemic would continue to complicate the planning process. A week before the wedding, St. Thomas changed their COVID restrictions, requiring that every individual be vaccinated. Thankfully, Mary Madison and Edwin chose a planner they could trust with the process of following up with vendors to ensure that the guidelines were being followed and that every detail would come together smoothly once on the island. The secret to maintaining positive relationships with vendors amid the chaos? Southern charm, kindness, and diplomacy. The end result was a beautiful destination wedding that gave the couple and their guests the time of their lives. The couple ended the weekend by hosting guests at their cabana, a nod to their pool party mini wedding. After all of the setbacks and reimaginings, it was incredible to see their vision come full circle.
In 2020, Mary Madison and Edwin were in the midst of planning a destination wedding for 300 guests in San Miguel, Mexico. When large gatherings and international travel were suddenly taken off the table in March of that year, they sought out a planner who could guide them through the process of reimagining their wedding and pivoting with grace. We collaborated with the couple to plan and host a mini wedding for their closest family and friends, and we also continued to cast a vision for their future destination wedding. For this, the couple made the decision to pivot completely, settling on a weekend in St. Thomas for 80 guests. Our goal was to fully understand their vision to ensure that, despite the change of plan, this would be the wedding of their dreams.
