We held the ceremony in the hotel’s tented garden to mimic the feel of an indoor-outdoor venue and crafted a timeless design: white florals with pops of green. After adding large potted trees and hanging vines twined around modern white chandeliers, the space resembled an enchanted greenhouse. Once everyone transitioned to the ballroom for dinner and dancing, the tent became an overflow area—perfect for stealing away for a quiet moment and soaking in the cool Texas evening.

To contrast with the wood beam ceiling of the reception space, we draped soft blue linens, textured with 3-D floral appliqués, over the tables, infusing the design with an unexpected, romantic twist. Then, we added ivory candles running down the center of each table, softening the lighting and creating a welcoming space for guests to dine and swap stories about the couple. Interspersed with the candles, we placed single-stem bud vases—each graced with an ivory rose—to form long and low centerpieces as radiant as they were lush.

Remember how we mentioned working with the space? Each place setting featured a leather napkin ring as a nod to the venue’s rustic charm. The lesson of this wedding day is that the smallest details can tie everything together—even the laidback spirit of Texas with a bride’s elevated, East Coast-inspired vision.

From the beginning, Erin and Blake had the kind of connection to their wedding venue, Hotel Drover, that most couples only dream of. It was the location of their first date and where Blake proposed. There was no question that their wedding had to be at a spot so central to their story!

However, Erin was adamant that she didn’t want her wedding to have a “Texas aesthetic” (an obstacle at a Western-inspired hotel!) So, we knew we had to think outside the box with the design.

If you aren’t able to cover up the things you don’t like about your venue, you have to create another focal point. In this case, it was about elevating the woodsy space so it took on the rustic-chic ambiance of a garden, bringing in the outdoors wherever we could.
