You expect impeccable style from the daughter of a world-famous bridal fashion designer, but this wedding weekend blew even our preconceived notions out of the water—Vogue concurs. The festivities began with a rehearsal dinner and James Bond-themed welcome party at Casino Español, a 19th-century former palace in the heart of the city’s historic district. The couple and their guests engaged in a night of revelry beneath the storied space’s crystal chandeliers, laughing, toasting the to-be-weds, and challenging each other to card games.
However, the following day’s wedding at General Prim solidified the Watters-Rohleder nuptials as the occasion of the year. Sydney brought in her long-term business & personal relationship with Cabo-based floral designer Pina Cate, and evidence of her creative genius could be seen on every surface. A floral forest popping with shades of pink set the stage for the couple’s handwritten vows exchanged on the mansion’s central staircase. Later, abstract arrangements interspersed with fresh fruit and laid atop custom-designed green tablecloths brought the feel of a tropical garden into the reception.
Of course, Sydney’s bridal fashion rose the bar, from her bespoke lace wedding gown designed by her mother (now available through Watters as the ‘Sydney’) to her after-party dress inspired by a vintage lampshade. Having tried on hundreds of wedding gown samples over the years, she knew exactly what elements she wanted her look to include when the time came!
Sarah may have manifested this wedding! In mid-2023, she expressed her wishes to plan a wedding in Mexico City and a winter wedding in Italy. Not long after, we connected with Sydney Watters—whose mother, Vatana, is the founder and creative force behind the Watters bridal brand—through a friend and former client, Lauren.
As fate would have it, we met at the brand’s Dallas studio, where Sydney revealed her recent engagement to her then-fiancé, Nick Rohleder. Her original intent was to plan a December 2023 wedding in Puglia, Italy (imagine Sarah’s excitement!). Immediately, we got to work planning a holiday soirée on the coast.
But at the last minute, Sydney changed her mind. She realized Italy was too far away for guests flying from California, so we needed to land on a new destination as soon as possible. She asked us for a recommendation, and we floated the idea of Mexico City to her great excitement! That very weekend, she and her mother flew to CDMX, toured General Prim—her and Nick’s would-be wedding venue—and reached a resounding conclusion: Mexico City was a go.
With the right steps, the right decisions, you’ll naturally have an amazing celebration - and have a little fun along the way too.
Let’s dream together.
I see a world of possibilities for you.
And that’s a pretty fun place to start.
